Michael Phelps - Part 3

Man, I should just die with these kind of posts. Anyway, this is a follow up to his winnings. I shall see whether there will be anymore news after this. LOLs.

Ok, summaries of most of the articles available now is about him being a really nice guy. Unlike Mark Spitz, which seem to be a very arrogant guy.

Unlike Spitz, who was viewed as aloof and even arrogant by his fellow swimmers, Phelps got along with all his teammates, even though they all knew he was in a league of his own. - PAUL NEWBERRY
I think that really shows that he's down to earth. =) Anyway, he's going back to Baltimore to his home. He's going to take a rest.

Anyway, I really like this part.

He hung out with them during his down time in the athletes' village, playing cards and the world-conquering game Risk. He made a point to engage the Olympic rookies he didn't know very well. He did what lots of other 23-year-olds did — play hip-hop music and text his buddies. - PAUL NEWBERRY
He seems really normal when they said all these. And he plays Risk! Man, you guys should play that game. It's very very nice. Well, you need fantastic strategy of course.

But this sounds more like a teenager more than an adult? LOLs.

From all this excitement, his family still gives him very strong support. His mother and his two sisters actually were at the Olympics and if you watched the Swimming finals, he actually went to the audience and hug them which was really very sweet.

But amidst all these, it seems that 'it takes more than just 8 gold medals' to be a household name in China.

Next door at a foot massage/manicure shop, 19-year-old Shen Chunfang didn't have a clue. Even prompting her with "swimmer" or "American" wasn't enough.
Well, when they went to interview the people of China, most of them cannot seem to get the name right. His name is pronounced as 'Fei-er-pu-si' in mandarin. I have no idea what that means.

But if they were to be prompted with the 'American Swimmer'. Some of them know who it is. However, all of them think he's very handsome. Hahahas. Ok. LOLs. Which is well, pretty amusing to me.

However, they found a more effective way to mention him in front of the Chinese.
Instead of trying to pronounce Phelps' surname with a Chinese inflection, it turned out to be more effective to ask in Chinese about the "handsome American swimmer," or the "fei yu," which means "flying fish" and is a nickname Phelps has been given by several local sports newspapers. - STEPHEN WADE
=) That's all. Very Cute huh?
